Power shutdown procedure for the S2A9900 / SFA 7700 / SFA10K / SFA12K DVS-SAN, specific power down sequence is important to ensure a clean shutdown.
If your configuration does not have the equipment stated below then simply skip that section.
- SAN clients
Before shutting down the SAN server and storage components, make sure all SAN clients are done with their jobs and computers shutdown if possible. - Meta Data Servers (MDS)
Open a terminal session as root and issue the follow two commands. The first command stops the StorNext services, the second command stops the operating system and turns the server off.
If dual MDSs are in use, start with MDS #2 first, wait 1 minute and then MDS #1.
service cvfs fullstop
The MDS should shutdown itself down after a short time, removed the power cables from the rear of the unit afterward.
poweroff - Meta RAID - DH2730 / DH3730
Connect to the controller via a browser or ssh and issue a shutdown command via the GUI interface or CLI.
Default user is 'manage', password is '!manage'.
GUI (web browser): MANAGE > RESTART SYSTEM. In the Shut Down RAID Controllers section select both.
CLI (ssh):
shutdown both
The unit should shutdown after a short time, the power cables can be removed from the rear of the unit afterward. There is no on/off switch. - QLogic - 5802
Remove power cords, there are no on/off switches. - Media RAID Controller(s) - S2A9900
Log into the S2A and issue the shutdown command.
One S2A9900 installed (Singlete):
shutdown
Two S2A9900 installed as a Couplete:
shutdown dual
The unit should shutdown after a short time, flip the power switches to the off position on the rear. - Media RAID Controllers - SFA7700, SFA10K, SFA12K
Log into the primary SFA controller and issue the showdown command to shutdown both controllers
shutdown subsystem
- Media RAID Drive Enclosures - SS6000, SS7000, SS8460
Ensure the S2A9000(s) or SFAs are shutdown first.
Flip the power switches to the off position on the rear of the drive enclosures. - Ethernet Switch
Remove power cords, there are no on/off switches. - Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
Shut off the power switches on the PDUs.
