Condition:

A StorNext filesystem that was originally created with v3 and subsequently upgraded to StorNext v4.  Filesystems created in v4 is not affected.

Procedure:

Turn on RPL, the filesystem will run a conversion process which takes a long time and the StorNext volumes are not available during conversion.

Excerpts from ticket #18213

How to set RPL to on so on next filesystem restart where the conversion will take place.

# umount /media/spycerbox

(cvadmin > stop 1)
# cvupdatefs -L on spycerbox
Checked Build disabled - default.

*Warning*: Inode Expand Min is deprecated and will no longer be supported in future releases
*Warning*: Inode Expand Max is deprecated and will no longer be supported in future releases

Attempting to acquire arbitration block... successful.

Filesystem spycerbox is set for fast reverse path lookup conversion.

# service cvfs restart

Mount will fail, monitor /var/log/messages for conversion status, will sit at "RPL_Upgrade: 0% complete (1 of 5103 IEL blocks)" for hours then show the rest of the % complete).

RPL conversion time:

5.2 million files took about 9 hours or 0.5 million files per hour.
1.4 million files took about 3 hours 15 min or 0.43 million files per hour.

These numbers are based on SSD Meta drives.
