Due to the recent announcement about the quicktime vulnerability. The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team issued an alert (TA16105-A) recommending Windows users uninstall Apple QuickTime from their computers. Quicktime on Clipster can be uninstalled. Clipster does use the application for legacy codec and by removing the application support for these formats will be unavailable.
Clipster has extensive support for different file formats, and R&S has made it a priority to limit the dependency on QuickTime libraries for read and write support. However, some less common formats still depend on this library.
CLIPSTER does not depend on QuickTime to read or write the following codecs:
YUV 4:2:2 8-Bit (2vuy)
VUV 4:2:2 10-Bit (v210)
ProRes
DV
DVCPro
DVCProHD
DNxHD
DNx444
IMX
XDCAM HD
XDCAM EX
XDCAM HD422
AVCI-50
AVCI-100
CLIPSTER currently uses QuickTime to read the following codecs and formats:
.MOV wrapped H264, MPEG4, MJPEGA, MJPEGB, Animation, Apple BMP, Cineiform, AAC
.AVI wrapped Cineform
CLIPSTER currently uses QuickTime to write the following codecs and formats:
.MOV wrapped H264, MPEG4, MJPEGA, MJPEGB, Animation, Apple BMP, AAC
Existing users have the following options
A. Uninstall QuickTime, losing support for the listed codecs
B. Continue using QuickTime at your own risk to maintain encode/decode flexibility
