SpycerBox Cell - RAID Adapter Update

Installation:

ATTENTION: The update procedure requires shell access as root and the root password !

STEP 1: Update of the ADAPTEC Storage Manager (Series 8)· maxView  StorMan-1.08-21375.x86_64.rpm

STEP 2: Update of the ADAPTEC HBA Driver kmod-aacraid-rhel6.4-1.2.1-41018.x86_64.rpm

STEP 3: Update of the ADAPTEC HBA Firmware Build 32730 - do NOT use the firmware bundle from the Adaptec website! The Build version 32730 is provided separately: 8885_fw_b32730.zip

1. Copy the as888501.ufi firmware file for the ASR-8885 controller to the Linux machine.
    

2. Change runlevel to 1 (Single User Mode) and stop some services.

   # init 1
   # service stor_cimserver stop
   # service stor_tomcat stop
   # service stor_agent stop

3. From the directory containing the controller firmware file, perform the firmware update and give it a good long time after the finished message.

   # /usr/StorMan/arcconf romupdate 1 AS888501.ufi

4. Reboot the machine.
    

5. Verify that the firmware is now at version 32730.

   # /usr/StorMan/arcconf getversion

6. Update the CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) on the controller. The required code is contained
   within the firmware that is now on the controller.

   # /usr/StorMan/arcconf cpld 1 flashupdate

7. Reboot the machine into single user mode (in the grub menu enter [e] for edit and add the word "single" at the end on the boot string.
    

8. Verify that the CPLD is updated to version 10.

   # /usr/StorMan/arcconf getversion
